This page contains results from a partitioning algorithm used to separate convective and non-convective precipitation from gridded radar volumes for the 990223 event. The partitioning technique is a reflectivity texture-based algorithm developed by Tom Rickenbach with characteristics that are similar to Steiner et al. 1995 (click here for a summary of the algorithm's methodology).
Results shown in these plots are composites of convective (red dash-dot line), stratiform (blue dash line), and total (green solid line) of a given quantitiy for the 21 UTC radar volume.
