This page contains plots of the 26 January squall line during the mature phase (Leary and Houze, 1979), as sampled by TOGA and S-Pol. Surveillence scan data indicates that the squall line remained in the mature phase throughout the entire dual-Doppler sampling period (1950-2210 UTC). However, because the dual Doppler scans were restricted to sectors after 2120 UTC, much of the intense convection along the line (west of the sector) was missed after this time which tended to bias the dual Doppler data to the dissipating echo toward the rear of the line. For the purposes of the dual Doppler data, the mature phase is considered to last from 1950-2130 UTC.
