SYNOPTIC CONDITIONS SUMMARY:

 

Synoptic feature map -

IOP status - No IOP called at this time.

 

There was a 250-300 mb anticyclone just S of Texas.

 

This anticyclone is drove a 250 mb jet stream running N over the GOC and then eastward over the northern edge of Tier 1. This jet is brought moisture up along coast and SMO from the S, leading to extensive rainfall in those areas.

Mesoscale system has taken on a nearly-linear structure, although deep convection is concentrated in two separate maxima - on far north of S-Pol and the other to the E/NE.

Convective maximum closest to S-Pol (perhaps an MCS in its own right) continues to intensify. IR temps < -70C. Overall MCS movement to S.
